New Restaurant in my hood

YAY! More food in Harlem! And it's NOT FRIED!
Chez Lucienne just opened three weeks ago in the old Slice of Harlem space.
Opened by two boys from Daniel, the place is already packed nightly and hoping to have delivery soon.
But who wants this delivered when the atmosphere here is such a delight?

The build out looks great and the staff is cute and most are french. Zut Alors!
Rod and I went for Sunday brunch and enjoyed watching the people being bused over to greasy Siliva's stop and stare in the window and wonder why the hell the tour guide wasn't taking them there.

I had a country pate and then a hanger steak with eggs. We hit the dessert table (perfectly placed in the front window) and samples flan, rice pudding and pear tart. All perfection.

PLEASE support this new place!

Check out what Yelp kids have to say about it.
Rave reviews.

DWR (Drinks With Rockers)

Monday night Molly Quirk hosted a splendid little get together at the DWR: Tools for Living store in Soho. It was the perfect Monday night affair, cool, calm, mildly boozy and done by 9!

The BPMW crew rolled up in there at 7pm and after one deee-vine Belvedere cocktail my credit card started burning a hole in my pocket. I bought Rod a snazzy pack of colorful masking tape (which later was used to annoy Ferris his new kitty by taping his paws together!), I bought myself two moleskins for home and office and finally I bought a little wooden top for Beatrice.

It was great to see lots of good friends (in good lighting and not wasted) including Claw, Carter and Angelo. In our usual classy style we cleared out enough Belvedere for 100 people and got down on candied pecans and cashews as well as veggies and dip.

Special guest of the night was Flat Stanley who Joy had hidden in her bag. Hi Flat!

Molly please host more of these events! It was a great time and the perfect time to get present shopping taken care of.

Fay's surprise party

Last night I had a little cocktail party with new friends and some old ones. I haven't had a soiree since my birthday party and my bar was feeling quite blue. it was great to have new blood in the house and getting to know some of my guests better.
Per usual I like to have some sort of entertainment at my parties- remember Bob? The bagpiper? Lucy's singing?

Well I couldn't figure out how to top any of those until I was at a gay bar and saw a man swinging around on a pole. Blimey! That's it! Stripper!
I dashed home and googled New York Male Strippers and this popped up- http://www.hunk-o-mania.com/
I called and asked for someone gay or gay friendly. No problem!
I explained it was going to be a fun group of editors/pr people
The gentleman asked what I do-I write
Oh! Do you cover clubs?
Er, not your kind of clubs. Sorry Sir.
Ahhh its OK, thought I would ask.

(What was I thinking???! I want to go to Hunk O Mania and cover it!!)

I asked for a man to come in a cop outfit and arrest Fay for a faulty Visa.

As I clicked off I nearly pooped with excitement.
How the hell was I going to keep this a secret for an entire month?

Let me tell you it was a damn doozy not to spill the beans.
But I did it! I think it was the first secret I ever kept (Kidding! Kinda)

The shindig was a great success. I ordered 50 hot wings to rave reviews, Olivia made a divine chocolate torte and Joy and Tony brought two bottles of Belvedere when I was just about out!!

At 11:30 on the dot my cop came and I brought him into Rod's house and gave him the run down.
I walked upstairs and turned off the music and told everyone we had complaints from the neighbors about noise and that we would have to keep it down for a bit. Everyone believed me thank God. Then I explained that there was another problem. Fay was in trouble with the cops and they had come by to interview her. Everyone believed me again! Then Jean Louis came upstairs in full cop costume with a flashlight twirling, I turned on his boom box and Fay flipped out!
I knew she would be a good sport. And how!
He was everything I wanted and more. He gave Fay quite a show and of course I jumped into the action.
After 20 minutes we wound down and he stayed for some drinks and passed out cards!

Needless to say the rest of the night was a boozy blur but it was great fun and at 2am when we were just cleaning up Lucy, Linnea and a crew busted in from the terrace and we popped one more bottle and sang some ditties till 3!

Good times.
